### Bug description
When I receive a text message, the top notification shows the sender name and the beginning of the message.
After 6 or 7 minutes, if I don't open the message, I receive another notification, and this time I have the sender name and the message preview is: *Message chiffré* (Encrypted message).
I did not activated "repeat alerts" nor the passphrase. The issue is present since I updated Silence last week.
### How to reproduce
- send myself a text message and quickly quit Silence
- drag Android top bar to see the text notification
- wait some minutes for the next notification to appear
- drag Android top bar to see the text notification
**Actual result:** the top notification shows the sender name and the "encrypted message" in place of the beginning of the message, and a second notification is shown
**Expected result:** no second notification, and the top notification shows the sender name and the beginning of the message

### Bug description
Though Silence states that it's based on the signal protocol ("A fork of Signal with only SMS/MMS encryption") that's insufficient for other projects to interoperate with Silence.
To that end, documenting the protocol used would allow for other implementations, or for it to be used in slightly different contexts.
The one under consideration (which motivated the submission of this issue) is JMP.chat which provides a gateway between SMS and XMPP. It would be beneficial for a user of that service to be able to have encrypted communication with Silence-using-contacts from their XMPP clients, rather than forcing that communication to be purely plain-text.https://git.silence.dev/Silence/Silence-Android/-/issues/860New release2023-10-03T18:32:23ZMarek KütheNew releaseHello,

Was there an attempt to bring the protocol that is in silence back into a fork of the newest Signal App? That way the more polished UI could be used from Signal and using "Silence+Signal" for encryption SMS or via Internet (just like Signal never abondonded it).
If someone has tried, please tell me, I am interested otherwise to bring it back, don't know where to start, any help appreciated.
This would also make Silence give a new community. People are using Signal and if they just have to switch to "whatever_this_fork_is_named" and can continue with Signal and even use encrypted SMS when being offline, would be great.https://git.silence.dev/Silence/Silence-Android/-/issues/804Import issue2023-06-03T00:44:37ZJaymiesterJayImport issueNo message are imported from existing SMS app to silence. First of all, I am sorry to post here, as my "issue" is more a request, but I don't know how to handle "pull request" (to much complex for me).
As you may know, Purism is working on a very good project : a Linux based smartphone called [Librem 5](https://puri.sm/shop/librem-5/).
This phone is focused on privacy : it will use Matrix (Riot) for E2E encryption calls and messenging, but to date, there is no app for E2E SMS/MMS. As Silence SMS is the best SMS app I've seen so far, and as many people in Purism forum ask for this app on the Librem 5, I would like to know if you would like to develop this app for this phone please ?
Please, feel free to provide your feeling and reason you would agree/disagree to do so.
Thank you very much for your feedback and app !https://git.silence.dev/Silence/Silence-Android/-/issues/412Better data import/export2021-10-11T16:50:18ZBastien Le Querrecbastien@silence.imBetter data import/export*Created by: axtux*

Actually, exporting unencrypted backup is a bit messy (see #388 and #195) Problems :
- backup filename can't be changed ;
- it is said nowhere in the app that the file is stored to `/sdcard/SilencePlaintextBackup.xml` ;
- if the file `/sdcard/SilencePlaintextBackup.xml` already exists, it is overwritten without any notice, which can cause data loss ;
- there is no way to backup SMSes regularly as SMS Backup And Restore can do (and this one can't be used here).
What I propose :
- set default backup filename to `/sdcard/SMSBackupRestore/sms-YYYY-MM-DD HH-mm-ss.xml`, time in filename avoid multiple backup to overwrite each other (Also, this is the format used by SMS Backup and restore, for better interoperability) ;
- tell user where the file has been saved in the popup telling "successful export" ;
- allow user to schedule regular backup ;
- maybe let user change filename but still propose him above standard as default.
