Unicode stripping in messages
Created by: hooger
Hello guys!
I am writting about a feature request. The problem is that hungarian language have a lot of non-ascii characters in it. Using keyboards with dictionary suggestions, these unicode characters will be included, causing the sms to be sent in a 16-bit format, caping the maximum number of letters by 70. Using only ascii characters would solve the problem, but bogging the dictionary. There is a functionality in stock app, Unicode stripping (or something like that, I don't know the exact name), which converts every unicode character to some reasonable ascii character before sending, keeping the message sanity, and keeping the cost low.
This is already done in Signal (as I see, pull request not yet accepted). Is it possible to include the solution to Silence? https://github.com/WhisperSystems/Signal-Android/pull/5203 Thanks in advance!
